Meet The Team! Maggie Lowery, LMSW
Maggie is our newest team member here at Georgetown Counseling and Wellness, and we are thrilled to have her on board. Maggie has a warm and compassionate presence. She is quick to understand and build rapport with her clients and brings experience and passion for working with children, teens and adults from many different backgrounds.
What ages do you work with?
I work with all ages! I particularly enjoy working with kids, teens and young adults and couples.
Who else do you enjoy and feel confident working with?
I enjoy working with individuals facing life transitions and folks who are feeling stuck with a desire to become unstuck.
Your approaches/how you help:
I help folks identify thought patterns that do and do not contribute to overall wellness. We work in partnership to change negative thoughts to positive and institute positive and meaningful coping skills such as mindfulness. I also help facilitate awareness of the mind-body connection through techniques that help locate and process feelings that manifest in the body.
What can a client expect if they work with you?
A client can expect to be treated with kindness, respect and encouragement in an environment free from judgment and shame.
What do you like about being a counselor?
I enjoy connecting with my clients and encouraging them to use their own inherent strengths and abilities to face life’s challenges with a sense of confidence and peace.
If you could meet one author who would it be and why?
I would love to meet Malcolm Gladwell and ask him to take me through his brainstorming process when it comes to seamlessly making seemingly disparate connections!
Unique fact about you:
As a young ballerina, I played every female role in The Nutcracker—except a mouse!
