I’m JaNae Dunaway, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate with over 4 years of experience providing counseling to individuals, teens, and couples across Texas, both in person and online. I work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, emotional stress and overwhelm, as well as life transitions. My areas of focus include marriage counseling, anxiety treatment, Christian counseling, and supporting teens and adults through seasons of struggle and change.
My approach to counseling is practical and thoughtful, with an emphasis on helping you understand what may be happening beneath the surface. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Narrative Therapy to help you recognize and develop healthier patterns and create meaningful, lasting change.
I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor's degree in communication studies. I've always been fascinated with people and the way they relate to one another, and I combined that background with a master's degree from Texas State University in Professional Counseling. It has led me to a fulfilling career path working with teens, adults, families and couples.
I've always lived close to the Austin area, and I now live in Georgetown, Texas with my husband and 3 kids. I enjoy exploring the city, watching good movies, meeting up with friends for coffee and lunch, taking in the kid's sports games and spending time together relaxing with my family!
In the counseling office, I aim to create a warm, respectful, and supportive environment where you can slow down, speak openly and honestly about what you’re experiencing, and work through what feels difficult. I believe counseling isn’t about having everything figured out. It’s about gaining clarity, understanding what you’re facing, and finding a way forward with greater confidence and direction.
You don’t need to know exactly where the process will lead before you begin. You simply need a place to start.
